Symptoms of CKD
Symptoms of CKD
In the early stages of CKD, there are no symptoms. Chronic kidney disease may not become apparent until your kidney function is significantly impaired
Signs and symptoms of kidney disease may include:
• Loss of appetite
• Fatigue and weakness
• Nausea and Vomiting
• Persistent itching
• Sleep problems
• Changes in amount of urine passed
• Decreased mental sharpness
• Shortness of breath, if fluid builds up in the lungs
• Chest pain, if fluid builds up around the lining of the heart
• Muscle twitches and cramps
• Swelling of feet and ankles
Since the kidneys are highly adaptable and able to compensate for lost function, signs and symptoms may be absent until irreversible damage has occurred.
